Red Broad is an Emmy™nominated and award winning re-recording mixer with over 25 years experience working within the TV and Film business.
After moving from London to Los Angeles in the early 90's, I found myself immediately drafted into the world of TV & Film. I started working in production as an A2 and quickly worked my way up to audio mixer (A1). Between 1990 and 2000 I gained invaluable experience working in production, becoming a first call audio mixer at several stages and video production facilities around town.
During this time I worked mainly as a production sound mixer, everything from game shows, magazine shows, talk shows, music shows, fitness shows to variety shows and telethons. I travelled quite extensively as a location audio mixer doing efp's for a news channel, reality, movies and commercials. My work during that time also included live to air shows such as Fox News 11 (FOX), Port Charles (ABC), Talk 2 (ESPN) Up Close (ESPN) and Home & Family (NBC).
In 1997 I graduated to post sound, founding Oasis Digital Audio Post in Hollywood, where I performed many duties such as re-recording mixer, sound designer, music editor, ADR recordist, foley recordist, music supervisor, sound supervisor and project manager.
The diversity of my work has given me great insight into many aspects of the business and I have been able to draw on this experience to more fully understand how a show is put together and what approach is needed in the sound mix. Check out the reels page for examples of my work and some of my credits here and on my page at IMDb.
As both time and technology have continued to march forward I have found myself more increasingly mixing from my home based studio. In 2010 I founded a new company BritMix Audio Post, focussing on e-mixing, also known as "remote" mixing, with a more streamlined and cost effective approach and a view that high quality sound does not necessarily have to carry a high price tag.
In addition to my own studio I have also been kept busy on a freelance basis mixing at other local audio post facilities including Wild Woods Audio Post in North Hollywood and Media City Sound in Studio City.
